TeSTarek el Sehity (2012)
I am a researcher and lecturer at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna and since 2009 and an associated researcher of the Institute of Cognitive Science and Technologies of the National Research Council in Italy.
  • My research is dedicated (1) to the development of a psychological theory of money and (2) to the psychology of family businesses and (3) wealth;
  • Main applications of the psychological model of money may be found in the field of family business, the psychology of wealth and the psychology of poverty.
Being trained as a psychologist in the field of economics and finance at the University of Vienna (Erico Kirchler), the University Paris 5 (Christine Roland-Levy) and the La Sapienza University in Rome (Anna Maria de Rosa), I became interested in the subject of money about the time when the single European currency was physically introduced in 2001/02. Since then I am on a continuous discovery journey into the world of money: What is money? Where does money come from? How do we bring about money? And what does money 'do' with us?...
These are some of the guiding questions which have motivated me to conduct most of the research- and counseling projects reported here. For the presentation and downloads of my works, you may also have a look at academia.edu or linkedin.com.
As a lecturer in the field of economic psychology i feel that my responsibility lies in the transfer of knowledge which students recognize as relevant to their real-life purpose. Understanding what matters most to students' future, understanding and developing their mission as psychologists in tomorrows society is critcial. Together with my wive - Raffaella Pocobello - I further offer scientific consultance and evaluation projects in the field of innovative mental health services. We found an interessting field of research on the cross-section between mental health services, organizational studies and the impact of economic conditions and money on it.
